    Great flavor, ridiculously oversized bag

An easy 5 stars for flavor - it's simply the best backpacking food I've had, and I've tried them all (both at home and in the field). This meal was no exception. However, WHY are the bags over 10" tall? I get it, that massive sticker on the back with the ingredients/other info has to go somewhere, but you should have reduced the label not use a gigantic bag. I'd wager this larger bag costs more than the 9" version offered from Tek Pack Solutions. Even the longest titanium spoon on the market (10") ends up getting lost in this bag. I ended up using scissors to cut off the top 5", but then I lose the resealable enclosure. Awesome food, ridiculous bag choice making eating a chore.

Hi David, we emailed you directly but just to provide clarification here as well. We do normally use smaller bags, during the height of Covid, TekPak Solutions was unable to provide their smaller bags so for a brief time we had to use the larger 10inch. Sorry for the inconvenience. All the best!

You think you’ve had good quality food on the mountain, until you actually have good quality food on the mountain. Folks at Pinnacle nailed it on every dish. It is the only main course item I carry for any hunting, fishing, or backpacking expedition. Top tier food, and great customer service.

Best backpacking meal I’ve ever had. While wandering on a trail in the Bitterroots on July 4 my wife and I stumbled on a pair of sisters backpacking. Hannah was the older sister and gave us her unopened biscuits and gravy, saying it was an extra and that she wanted to help her friends launching this business. We took it on our next backpack trip and have praised Pinnacle and Hannah ever since. Tasty! Stocking up for future trips.

    The BEST.

I got some of these for camping. Wow. The flavor is the best, period. 11 out of 10. I like mine a bit thicker, so I used less water. 9 out of 10 ease of use. I would take a point from the big bag, but pinnacle mentioned availability of small bags recently. No biggie. Pack ability- 7.5 of 10, this is a huge portion and takes up a lot of room. NOT that I want that to change, lol, just saying. I look forward to trying everything from this company.

On long backpacking trips I used to dream about the burger I'd have once we got back into town. Now I dream about getting back to camp and pulling out Pinnacle's biscuits and gravy. So good!

    Killer Biscuits + Gravy

I don't know how, but the Pinnacle guys have absolutely mastered the freeze-dried biscuits and gravy. I swear, the quality and flavoring once rehydrated is unbeatable, absolutely southern kitchen quality. My only quibble is that I wish there was more sausage / protein in a single bag (ie same protein level as their chicken and dumplings bag). I had to supplement protein with other food for this meal, but the flavor is great.

    To much water

The instructions on my bag stated to use 1.5 cups of water, 12 ounces. After preparing, it was so saturated in water it was like a runny soup. The biscuits were terrible as was the entire pouch. Uneatable. Luckily I ordered 2 bags. I used 6 ounces of water abd it was great. Good flavor, just the right consistency and texture. Didnt mind the tall bag. For me, 16 bucks is too much for a one serving meal, for outdoor, hiking, hunting food. But, with 6 oz rather then the stated 12 oz, of water, it tasted really good.

    SO good

Absolutely delicious meal. I look forward to making this breakfast on trail. I rarely cook breakfast on backpacking trips to save time, but it's become part of my routine to include this meal. I love how calorie dense these meals are in comparison to other brands. I'm definitely willing to spend a few extra dollars to have a flavorful and filling meal.

Flavor remains outstanding - and now NEW BAGS!

I’ve reviewed this product before (y’all bags WUT!?), and I wanted to follow up one year later.

This is one of my favorite meals - it’s delicious.

And now the option of the wide flat bottom bags make this a joy to eat. Thank you!

Easily the best trail food I have tried by far

Just try it, it's yummy. And amazing on the trail. I usually add onions and other spices to backpack meals. These need nothing. My family asks for this off-trail!

    Best breakfast meal I've Had

This is by far the best breakfast freeze dried meal Ive had. Also the recommended water to use was actually the perfect amount which is great as normally the amount listed is never the actual correct amount needed.

    Very good.

I was very happy with the quality of the food from the flavor to the consistency. I wish it had a higher protein content, as 31 grams for 700+ calories is pretty low. However, that doesn't change the fact I will eat this again.

    Breakfast time

The flavor is good if the notable. Rehydrating the biscuits at 9000+ elevation works best if you break them in half roughly from my experience.

My go-to backpacking meals from here on out. Biscuits and gravy beat any that I’ve had in a restaurant.

    Best Breakfast period!

This is by far the best tasting breakfast I’ve ever had from any brand! The food tastes real and the instructions are the exact amount needed to rehydrate well. The taste is top notch and really hits well in the morning!

    Amazing quality and ingredients!!!

In a world of terribly unhealthy backpacking food options, Pinnacle Food’s selection of ingredients is amazing.
This meal tastes great, it has a little bit of heat, but not too spicy that youth can’t eat it.

Please never sell-out to unhealthy ingredient options; like “natural” ingredients, “spices” or factory-manufactured oils like Canola oil.
Myself, my family and my Scouts BSA friends thank you for the great, high-protein food options of your meals!
I’ve tried all of the meals and have shared many extra meals, while backpacking including at Philmont Scout Reservation last summer and this past fall. Everyone I shared the meals with really enjoyed them.
Hopefully you will be able to offer more high-protein options and if you are able to, we will definitely be first in line!!!
Thank you for the great food!
(Pro tip: I usually put in 3/4 of the total amount of water, place the meal in a bubble mailer like you get from Amazon, wait the recommended time, then reheat the remaining water, add that stir and I get great results: warm, well-rehydrated, delicious meals - hope this tip helps you enjoy a great meal!)

    One of the absolute best!

I’ve been eating dehydrated meals for over 20 years, and have had everything from cheap to expensive, from mass produced to home made. These biscuits and gravy are by far, one of the absolute best meals I’ve ever had. I found that I had to add 4-5 minutes to my reheat time to have the sausage and biscuits fully soften up, by wow! Absolutely incredible! Ordering 4 more to keep in my gear closest for upcoming trips!

    Another exceptional meal.

These guys are knocking it out of the park. This might be the best of the biscuits and gravy meals out there. Sometimes you get an obviously watery sauce with this type of meal but that's not the case here. The taste is awesome and I love the chunks of biscuit; just a bit of crunch, which I love. One of my favorites!

    Premium Fuel

A Pro athlete once said “I only put premium in my Ferrari” referring to his body. The team at Pinnacle has done just that. I found myself not needing to pack a bunch of cheap snacks and fillers while on my trip because these meals gave me sustained lasting energy, that correlates to a lighter pack and performing better. I would recommend this product to anyone and especially those who want to perform at there best in the backcountry!
