Sticky-Teriyaki Chicken with Garlic Asparagus and Coconut Rice
$17.49
Coconut braised chicken thighs tossed in a tangy teriyaki-red pepper glaze (this is where the “sticky” comes from), mixed with roasted asparagus and fresh garlic, basmati rice cooked with sauteed onions and ginger in coconut milk, and finished with fresh scallions.

Tastes great but needs less water
I tried my first pack of Sticky-Teriyaki Chicken with Garlic Asparagus and Coconut Rice in Retort pouch. It tastes great and I appreciate the generous amount of chunky chicken meat in it. The instructions say to add 1.5 Cups of water and wait for 12 minutes. I followed the instructions but there was a lot of water left after 12 minutes, making it soupy instead of sticky. I'd start with no more than 1 cup of water the next time.

I don't know why I bought this flavor
Honestly, I don't know why I bought this particular flavor. In the past I've had many bad experiences with freeze dried meals that have chicken and or rice. The rice usually isn't very good and from other backpacker meals sometimes the chicken does not rehydrate and stays hard. So I tend to avoid them. HOWEVER this company seems to have figured it out with this meal. The rice was good not mushy or too hard, the chicken was flavourful and the texture felt right.
I would definitely get this meal again and have already purchased more meals from them to try out.
Having eaten more freeze dried meals than I can count, I've learned that in my environment I don't need a much water as stated for most packs. Listen to others start of with a little less water and add if you want. These meals ARE EXPENSIVE especially when you add in the shipping ... you don't want to ruin it by adding to much water. You can always add more.

One of the best
This last year I've really gotten into hiking and have been trying numerous entrees from different brands. I'm not a picky eater but I have been surprised by how difficult it is to find hiking meals that are desirable. Many meals I have tried I have had to force myself to eat. I have tried more meals that I have to put on my do not buy again list than my buy again one. Not only did this make it on to my buy again list but dare I say it's probably the best one I've tried so far. It's one of the very few I actually crave eating again or wish there was more when I'm done. It was my first sample of this brand and I am looking forward to trying the others. Will definitely be buying more of the chicken teriyaki.

Best Rice Freeze Dried
I love this flavor. It is honestly the best rice based freeze dried meal I have ever had. It is not too sweet, has a lot of food, and the asparagus is a very nice touch. Overall one of my favorite meals.

Wonderful!
Some of the best freeze-dried food I have tested! Wish there were bigger portions, but still satisfactory.

Best Meal Ever
This is the best backpacking meal I have ever had. My friend, who came with me, said it tastes like it came out of a restaurant. I’ve ordered two more of these because of how good it was! The best chicken teriyaki I’ve ever had.

Just re-ordered more
This meal is well worth the wait if they are out of stock. They nailed the name of this company; these meals are truly top tier. Not much feels better than taking off your shoes at the end of an adventure except cracking a cold one with the Sticky T-Chicken in hand. Keep em comin…

Almost didn't buy this . . .
I hadn't planned on purchasing this, but decided to throw it in the cart at the last moment and I'm glad I did: this is, simply, outstanding and, in my opinion, the best menu choice they offer.

The Winds approved
Easily my favorite freeze-dried backpacking meal. Rehydration is straight forward without some of the idiosyncrasies of other meals, not specifically Pinnacle’s either. The resulting texture is fantastic and the rich, full flavor is a real stand out among freeze-dried meals.

So much better than the usual brands
This meal has texture, plenty of chicken, lots of flavor... it actually tastes like good food, rather than backpacking mush. Highly recommend, especially as a GREAT option for DF folks.
Patrick Smith –
Very filling.
After a long exhausting day hiking, I was tired and ready for a meal. The chicken was seasoned really well, and the rice was a perfect texture. Just the right amount of food to fill me up before bed. Will continue to use Pinnacle for all my camp meals.

First One Tried
This was my first try at this brand. I am hooked, about to put my second order in right now. As with all freeze dried meals, I always cut the water back about 25% as I do not like eating soup, especially at high elevation and cold nights. After eating 4 of these, I won't even touch other brands.

Good Stuff
Never a fan of freeze dried meals, but Pinnacle is converting me.
Justin Vaughn –
Absolutely amazing
I rated this meal a 10/10 and my boy 12 years old rated it a 9/10. We have been very surprised by these meals.

Pretty good
This meal honestly isn’t one of Pinnacle’s best but that still makes it way better than most other companies meals. I wish there was more seasoning - pretty much all I taste is sweet sweet sweet salt salt salt. Needs more of the trademark teriyaki umami flavor. But like I said, it’s miles better than other companies’ offerings. With most - if not all - freeze dried meals, I err on the side of less water than the directions say and this one is no different. Probably ended up doing a cup plus a bit of boiling water which ended up perfectly sticky.

Best of the Lineup
This was hands down the best meal I had in my backpack on the PCT. Packed with flavor, super satisfying, calorie dense and actually tastes like real food. Pinnacle’s killing it.

I’m not a big teriyaki fan. But, wanted to try something new. Bit the bullet and was not disappointed. I bought them because of the coconut, asparagus and rice. It was DELICIOUS. Texture was perfect and again no salt/pepper needed. My husband and I split one and it’s plenty.
I will not order meals anywhere else except here. WAY TO GO PINNACLE. We tell everyone about these meals and know some are trying them out.

I was afraid that freeze dried asparagus would be hard, chewy, or both. But they weren't I was pleasantly surprised by this meail and would recommend it. Like others, I do think most of their meals need less water than indicated.

Need to try again with insulated bag
I bought 2 or 3 of these and the first time I made it, I didn’t have an insulated food bag to rehydrate the pouch in. The flavor was good but it was too crunchy so I think that was a user error. Excited to try again with an insulated pouch though, after reading the other positive reviews! I get excited about having tasty vegetables on trail, even if it is just part of a meal.

My favorite meal
All the products Pinnacle offers are amazing and this one is my favorite.

Healthy and protein packed Meals
We are very particular on ingredients and when hunting in the back country with a family we need light weight and nutrient dense meals. These check all the boxes, full of protein, great ingredients and delicious!! Reordering a full box for hunting season. Easily shareable with kids.

Very delicious option, and the coconut rice was a nice touch. Definitely add less water than you think you'll need to start.

This might be my favorite
I tried this meal for the first time just a couple of weeks ago. I have enjoyed every meal from Pinnacle that I have tried, but I think this one is my favorite. I will definitely be buying this for every trip.

Best backcountry meal I've ever had
Chicken portion is generous and rice was the perfect texture, but the real star of this meal for me was the asparagus and scallions. Something about chewing a real, flavorful vegetable was indescribably nice after a few days of tortilla and dehydrated meals. I'm here leaving this review because I'm ordering again.
Cameron Holt –
Delicious and packed with flavor
This has to be in my top two of any dehydrated meal I've ever had. The flavors are so tasty and is a meal I'd be proud of if it was home cooked.
Rachel –
Superb even cold soaked
After my cook stove failed to light at 11,000 feet, I resorted to cold soaking this meal so I could eat. Let me tell you how much I enjoyed the flavor of this meal even when I didn't have hot water to add to it. If it's this superb even cold soaked, I can only imagine how delicious it will be when actually warm. Will definitely be buying this one again!

Really tasty, my second favorite meal here
This one is really good. I don't normally like coconut flavor but combined with everything else it really enhances the meal without overpowering the other flavors. As others have stated it will have a bit more water than you want so I always dump some out after cooking as I am a bit nervous to remove water from the cooking process. That said once you get rid of some of the water this meal is better than your average take-out place and is just so much better than other brands. I do like the Thai Peanut Curry more, but this meal is not far off my number one pick.

Best backpacking meal
This is by far the best backpacking I’ve ever tried. Flavor and texture will have you thinking it was made fresh at camp. Can’t go wrong with this one.

Yummy and refreshing change - delicious
Always amazed at the flavor profiles. Great combination of ingredients and flavors - esp. when on the trail. I always hydrate for much longer than suggested (if you can stand it). Then top off with a little extra hot water just before eating.

Better than Takeout
This is another solid flavor option that's as good as most teriyaki combos you can get in the frontcountry. The coconut rice is a nice touch.
Tracy Smith –
Very tasty meal
I liked the Sticky Teriyaki meal. It was one of the best freeze dried meals i have tried. This would be good without the chicken. Can't wait to try the other meals.

STICKY-TERIYAKI CHICKEN
This meal is a new favorite! It rehydrated perfectly. Enjoyed the taste and texture of the chicken and rice. Pinnacle Food's meals always leave me feeling satisfied after a long day of backpacking.

UNREAL
I've tried so many different backpacking meals and this one right here is hands down one of the best I've ever had. It can be a gamble buying meals with rice but this one in particular tasted AMAZING, the rice cooked through perfectly and I really wish it was a Mary Poppins food bag and I never ran out. Would highly recommend giving it a go and it's worth every penny!!!

The meal was like I cooked it at home. I will order several more for my next trips

Definitely on top for me
So, I am a backpacking meal connoisseur and this meal is probably my favorite that I have tried. I absolutely love the larger chunks of veggies and it has the perfect amout of sweetness.
Nick Guyer –
One of the best freeze-dried meals ive ever had

Yes, It's That Good
Worth every penny. Easily one of the top three camping meals I've ever had. Agree with other reviews, only needs 1 to 1-1/4 cup of water, all else considered, it's a treat on the trail or at home.

I enjoyed this meal after a good afternoon upland bird hunting trip with my Griff, Rogue. Super tasty and filling. Thanks!
